A very busy session for the year 4 and 5 student group as we shared stories about our actions over the past week that reflected good moral and ethical behaviour/decisions and values. We discovered that it is OK to walk away from difficult and challenging situations and sometimes we need to be honest, but always respectful, when faced with friendship dilemmas that might be hurtful to our friends. We cannot please everyone all the time but how we communicate and display our inner values in our community is what is important.
After our discussion Mrs Booth dropped the exciting bombshell that next week the group will have to work extremely well together as they were going to be put into survival mode! There were many terrified glances and wicked smiles from the students...hahah...The catch is that they must all decide on their various roles as they will be all placed on Island1 and need to get to the other side of the map collecting hidden artefacts along the way. Experienced players will need to support the less experienced players and EVERYONE must survive. If someone dies that is an automatic 1 minute time out penalty for the whole group. The students were on task rapidly today finishing their connecting bridges, building stronger shelters, stocking up on farming tools and sowing crops. Chests were filled with the necessary resources on each island and no one wanted to go home when the home bell rang. Again, a great session and it is wonderful to see all the group work so well together underpinning the objectives of this unit of work.
