The Stage 2/3 enrichment group has started on the games design unit and over the past two weeks explored and discussed the components of 'serious' game design. What elements makes a game 'serious'. What does protagonist and antagonist mean and how is story development and their inclusion so important to good game design?. Our focus game that we have been playing and evaluating has been Alternator and we also viewed the video 'Behind the Scenes' to help students develop an understanding of good game design and where designers get their inspiration from. All students assessed the game through a rubric developed by MacICT and they areas they focussed on were:
- Technical (game design)
- Spelling and Grammar
- World: Art/Graphics
- Challenge & Difficulty
- Player Feedback
